An ancient street established on the dried bed of the stream Kemonia.
The peculiarity of this street is that it still hosts, nowadays, numerous coppersmith shops.
The Jewish district used to be situated along the borders of the stream Kemonia and surrounded by the "Ponticello" (Little Bridge), The Coppersmiths' Street, and Via del Giardinaccio.
The centre of the district gravitated around the synagogue, popularly called "meschita", after the name of the street where it was erected.
